Find better ways of shopping in Moreton Bay region now.

We often complain about how much time we spend shopping for our daily household needs & sometimes if feels like we’ve just run a half marathon. Better planning can reduce the number of visits to our local shopping centres on Bribie Island but just as important is our fitness.

Speaking of fitness, did you know that Bribie Island hosts its own triathlon on selected weekends during the year?

According to online resources, the first triathlon was held at the San Diego Track Club on America’s west coast in the 1970’s. It consisted of three sports which were dove-tailed together without any rest breaks to create one master race event. A swim leg was followed by a cycling race & rounded out with a foot run to the finish line.

So popular was the format that in 1989 it was awarded recognition as an Olympic sport, with the first competition scheduled in the Sydney 2000 Olympics. The race consisted of a 1.5klm swim, a 40klm bicycle leg followed by a 10klm foot race. There are now 4 categories of triathlon races that are used as a guide when staging one of these physically-demanding events – Ultra, Long Course, Sprint & Olympic. The triathlon in Noosa is regarded as the world’s largest Olympic style race but what out ‘cause Bribie Island’s nipping at your heels!

And what’s the point of running a triathlon if you don’t explore the surrounding areas after your race.

Bribie Island’s west coast is home to the majority of retail shopping experiences on this beautiful island in the Moreton Bay region.

Plenty of coffee shops, cafes, restaurants providing healthy food options & speciality stores are within walking distance of the nearby parks & barbeque areas. Cool down after the big race & create more memorable experiences before you head off back home.

Bongaree Village shopping precinct is located just a street block away from the popular Bongaree jetty overlooking the Pumicestone channel, passage to Moreton Bay’s popular boating and fishing areas.
